　　米歇尔韦拉斯科,美国艺术家，现居路易斯安那州新奥尔良。韦拉斯科的摄影作品，或是拼接多处景象，或是拆分特定地点再加以整合的多联画，旨在探索自然环境的破坏和重建。她的作品在国内外展出，并被诸多公共机构，私人机构以及企业收藏，其中包括新奥尔良的奥克塔维亚画廊，洛杉矶的LACDA，田纳西纳什维尔的里克特摄影画廊。同时,也获得纽约逊德纳基金会，琼米切尔基金会，路易斯安那州艺术部文化经济基金会的赞助。
Michel Varisco is an American artist residing in New Orleans, Louisiana. Varisco's photographs, assemblages and site-specific installations explore loss and regeneration. Varisco’s work is exhibited and published internationally and is included in public, private and corporate collections in the U.S. and abroad. She is represented by Octavia Gallery in New Orleans, LACDA in Los Angeles and Richter Gallery of photography in Nashville, TN. Support for her work has included grants and commissions by the SURDNA Foundation of New York, the Joan Mitchell Foundation, The Louisiana Division of the Arts, Louisiana Cultural Economy Foundation.

　　英国石油公司原油泄漏成为美国历史上最大的自然灾害。作品《变迁》拍摄了此事件前后密西西比三角洲湿地，沼泽，岛礁和墨西哥湾的污染情况。
该作品旨在探究土地的得失与工程技术的成败。原油泄漏期间，作者曾在艾彻法拉亚盆地，同那些深受其害的渔民一同居住在船屋。她拍摄了墨西哥湾的自然美景和人为造成的土地退化情况。五年的拍摄经验让韦拉斯科认识到，大自然历经7000年才形成的地方，人类仅70年就化为乌有。这里曾是美国最新开垦的领土，但也是消失最快的土地。人类创新和科技进步日新月异，但同时我们面临一个更严重的问题，那就是我们能（不能）与自然和谐相处。我们的所作所为，给当地路易斯安那人带来了身心的煎熬。作品《变迁》正是要反映环境污染，美景已逝的现状，为世界各地的人们敲响警钟。
In Shifting I photograph the Mississippi Delta wetlands, swamps, barrier islands and Gulf of Mexico before and after the British Petroleum oil spill, the largest natural disaster in the United States’ history.
Through Shifting I study various aspects of land losses and land gains, and engineering feats and engineering defeats. In the Atchafalaya Basin, I inhabited houseboats and flew over the Gulf to capture both the beauty and the degradation of the area by natural and man-made means. During the oil spill I traveled by boat with the people whom it affected immediately, the fishermen. During the 5 years I worked on this project, I learned that what took 7000 years to build by nature has taken 70 years to undo by humans. This is the newest land in the United States and the most rapidly disappearing land. While simultaneously fascinated with human ingenuity and technology, I also aim to keep in focus the larger question of how we are able, or perhaps unable, to live in healthy collaboration with nature. Through Shifting, I contemplate the physical and spiritual struggles Louisianans have with our landscape through the decisions we make, and which may offer insights to communities around the world.
