The invisible cities is a curatorial project that intends to inquire about the feeling that we have about the idea of Homeland. It is a very eclectic project as are eclectic the ideas and feelings about homeland. What do we believe is our home land? The city we remember or the city we imagine. To which do we belong to, to the dreams about our home that chase our path where ever we go, or to the memories we treasure? Marco Polo in Italo Calvino’s book “The invisible cities” never talk about his home town Venice, but about any other city. However when the Great Khan ask him about Venice, Polo replies: it is Venice I’ve been talking about the whole time, every little thing I told you about any other city, it was my home city I was talking about, because my home city for me includes every other city. What is your homeland? Ask a man to the traveler, and the traveler replies: My homeland, it that wall I use to pass by every day, when I was walking in my home town, I never noted it, but now that I’m away, I miss that wall, its textures and details more than anything.I travelled the world all around looking for the landscapes my heart would recognize as I recognize the lines in my hand. From the sky, I saw always in every landscape that reminded me the place that I belong to as if my homeland would happens to be all around the world.José Martí, the most important historical figure in Cuba said: “Homeland is humanity”.
