托马斯·凯尔纳，1966年出生于德国波恩。曾在德国锡根大学学习艺术、社会学、政治学、经济学。“柯达德国”曾授予他“青年专业人物奖”，从此踏上艺术和摄影之路。
Thomas Kellner, born in Bonn/Germany in 1966, studied art, sociology, politics and
economy at the University of Siegen/Germany. Kodak Germany awarded him the
Young Professionals Prize upon which he decided on a life in art and photography.
作品简介：
该作品从艺术摄影的角度记录德国和俄罗斯两大重要工业区，这两大工业区有着相似的文化和历史，作品中的工厂选自摄影师的家乡锡根和俄国最大的2座城市：叶卡捷琳堡和彼尔姆.
This project deals in an artistic-photographical manner with two important industrial
areas in Germany and Russia, which are liked to each other through the common
history of industrial culture. I’m talking of my hometown Siegen and two of the
biggest cities of Russia, Yekaterinburg and Perm.

我想打破观众观看影像时的不同感觉，因此时常寻找各种强烈的视觉语言，表现“现实”的影像所不能达到的视觉效果。从一开始，我的兴趣便是实验和观念摄影，我曾创作针孔系列、黑影照片，尝试不同的冲印技术，如氰版、银盐等等。 在获得“柯达德国”的“青年专业摄影师奖”后，我决定靠艺术和摄影生活。1997年，我开始 “图片小样”创作法，解构各种象征性建筑，我的标志性创作手法也因此诞生。此后，我一直在世界各地拍摄各种著名建筑，这些影像挑战常规透视方法——各种建筑似乎被分割成小块，像在跳舞；同时也在提醒人们：我们的价值观和我们的创造有多么脆弱。
I want to break manifold ways of perception to my audience. My main interests have always
been in finding strong visual languages that are powerful enough to tell us something about
their subjects that more "realistic" images cannot do. Right from the beginning of my studies,
my basic interest was in experimental and conceptual photography. I created different pinhole
series, photogram work and printings in alternative techniques, such as cyanotype, saltpaper
and others.
When Kodak Germany awarded me the Young Professionals Prize, I decided on a life in art
and photography. In 1997, I finally started working on the contact sheet method to visually
deconstruct architectural icons. My trademark style was born. Since then, I have been shooting
prominent monuments all over the world. My images are asking to challenge usual perspectives –the buildings seem to be broken apart, dancing and remind us of the vulnerability of our values
and creations.
